Parenting strict or laid back

There is a major concern in the actual North America society about how parent should raise their children.
Two of the most common approaches are the extreme ones which are really strict and laid back parents.
They have both positive and negative points. Pushing the child and showing him his potential can be very helpful; nevertheless, it can also have a poor effect on him, if the parents are too authoritarian, the child might rebel, therefore, it can have a huge consequence on the communication inside the family. On the other hand, if you give your child too much freedom or a lack of ground rules, he might be destabilized by having to follow the rules of society or his work place. The importance about these two styles of parenting is the different approach towards the purpose of the child and whether or not they have to give back every energy and time their parents put in them. Strict parents generally believe that educating a child is, in the future going to be profitable for them, the child is a investment that going to give them pride, money, self-esteem and social status; consequently, the success or failure of their child is directly linked to them; on the contrary, laid back parents educate their children without any expectation in return and mostly consider raising their child to be an altruism act. However, most models of parenting largely fall between those two types. Parenting is a challenging work that requires a lot of responsibility. Knowing how to educate a child depend on the environment which he is going to live in, friends he is going to have, the school where he is going to learn. Parents cannot control every aspect of the child life, they have to let them make decisions and mistakes by themselves, so they can learn how to think on their own as free will is one of the most important gift of humanity.
